A room where beginners are the point.
Renzo Gracie Garwood is an official Renzo Gracie affiliate academy training under the Team Bronco banner. Our curriculum, belt standards and promotions follow the lineage rather than being invented locally — and our students can walk into affiliate academies anywhere in the world.
What we built on top of that is simple: a beginner should never be the least welcome person in the room. Fundamentals classes run five days a week, higher belts are held to a standard when they roll with new students, and every promotion is earned on the mat in front of everyone.
We are a neighbourhood academy. Most of our students live within fifteen minutes of the door — Garwood, Westfield, Cranford, Clark, Scotch Plains and Kenilworth — and most of them found us because somebody they know trains here.

A beginners-only room
Fundamentals runs five days a week and is capped to beginners and new white belts. You learn the same twenty-odd techniques on a cycle until they are yours.
Belt standards you can trust
We are an official Renzo Gracie affiliate. Curriculum, testing and promotions follow the lineage — not a local invention — and your rank travels with you.
Higher belts are held to a standard
The senior students in this room are graded on how they roll with new people. Smashing a white belt is not a flex here, it is a conversation with a coach.
No contracts, ever
Month-to-month, no enrollment fee, no cancellation penalty, free pauses for travel or injury. If the training is good you will stay without paperwork.

The people on the mat with you.
Coaches teach every class. There is no rotating cast of assistants running the room.

Leads the adult curriculum and belt promotions. Teaches the fundamentals cycle personally, because the first three months decide whether someone trains for ten years.

Runs Little Broncos and Juniors. Built the stripe system the kids chase, and knows every student’s name inside a week.
