What actually happens
Nobody is going to throw you to the wolves. Here is the whole hour, in order.
Someone meets you at the desk, shows you where to change, and introduces you to the person you’ll be training next to. Nobody makes you stand up and announce yourself.
A movement warm-up, then one position broken into three pieces. You drill with a partner who has been told you’re new. If something hurts, you stop — that’s the rule, not a favour.
Beginners do positional rounds at a pace they choose, or watch from the edge on day one. Either is completely normal. Then everyone lines up, shakes hands, and goes home.
Your first class is free. Come in, borrow a uniform, learn three things that work, and leave knowing whether this is for you.

Why here
Here is what we actually changed to make that true.
Fundamentals runs five days a week and is capped to beginners and new white belts. You learn the same twenty-odd techniques on a cycle until they are yours.
We are an official Renzo Gracie affiliate. Curriculum, testing and promotions follow the lineage — not a local invention — and your rank travels with you.
The senior students in this room are graded on how they roll with new people. Smashing a white belt is not a flex here, it is a conversation with a coach.
Month-to-month, no enrollment fee, no cancellation penalty, free pauses for travel or injury. If the training is good you will stay without paperwork.

Who teaches
Coaches teach every class. There is no rotating cast of assistants running the room.
Head Instructor
Black belt · Renzo Gracie lineage
Leads the adult curriculum and belt promotions. Teaches the fundamentals cycle personally, because the first three months decide whether someone trains for ten years.
Kids Program Lead
Brown belt
Runs Little Broncos and Juniors. Built the stripe system the kids chase, and knows every student’s name inside a week.
No-Gi & Competition Coach
Black belt
Handles no-gi, leg locks and the competition team. Wrestling background, which is why our takedowns are not an afterthought.

Four people who put it off longer than they needed to.
“I put off walking in for two years because I thought I was too out of shape and too old. Six months later I train three times a week and it is the best hour of my day.”
“My son was the kid who stood at the edge of the playground. Now he walks into a room of strangers and introduces himself. That is what we actually paid for.”
“I have trained at four academies in two states. This is the first one where the black belts actually coach you during live rounds instead of just smashing you.”
“The women’s class got me through the door. Two months in I was training the mixed classes too and wondering why I waited.”
Questions
Answered honestly, including the ones with an awkward answer.
No. The Beginner Fundamentals class is capped to beginners and new white belts, and it runs five days a week. Most people in the room started within the last few months. You will not be dropped into advanced sparring on day one — or in your first month.
This is the most common reason people delay for a year, and it is backwards. Jiu-Jitsu is how you get in shape. You set your own pace in every round, you can sit out any time, and nobody is watching you. Come as you are.
Shorts without pockets or zippers, a t-shirt, a water bottle, and short fingernails. We will lend you a gi if the class needs one. Arrive about fifteen minutes early so we can show you around and get you signed in.
Jiu-Jitsu is a contact sport, so it is honest work — you will be sore. Serious injury is rare and almost always comes from ego, which is why sparring rules are enforced from the top belt down. Beginners drill and do positional sparring before they do full rounds, and tapping is treated as information, not defeat.
Memberships are month-to-month with no enrollment fee and no cancellation penalty. Current rates are listed on the pricing page. Your first class is free either way.
Two classes a week is enough to improve steadily. Three is the sweet spot for most working adults. Once a week keeps you connected but progress is slow — and we will tell you that honestly rather than sell you a plan you will not use.
It is usually the right one. There is no striking in our kids program, so nobody gets hit. Kids are grouped by age and size, they get clear stripe goals they can see progress against, and coaches teach the walk-away-first rule explicitly. Shy kids tend to be the ones the program changes most.
We are an official Renzo Gracie affiliate academy, training under the Team Bronco banner. That means our curriculum, belt standards and promotions follow the lineage rather than being invented locally, and our students can train at affiliate academies while travelling.
Yes. Any class on the timetable, no appointment needed. There are benches at the mat edge and parents watch the kids classes every day.
Fundamentals for a few weeks, then the all-levels class when it feels boring. Bring your belt — we will honour rank from a legitimate academy after a short conversation.
Or just call (908) 555-0142 and ask a person.
